Sophie Bailey

Founder, The Edtech Podcast

Sophie Bailey is the founder of the iTunes new and noteworthy, The Edtech Podcast. Her previous role was as Head of Content at Bett, the world's largest education technology event and prior to that she enjoyed a nine year career in tech events including at Informa Telecoms and Media (the founders of the Mobile World Congress). Last year, she left her role to launch The Edtech Podcast and to consult on education innovation partnerships under the name ‘Tangential Brain’. The mission statement of The Edtech Podcast is to improve the dialogue between 'ed' and 'tech' through storytelling, for better innovation. The main audience are global education leaders, with a secondary audience of start ups, bluechips, investors, Government and media.

Within 12 months, the podcast has 1200+ downloads each week from 109 countries. Sponsors of the podcast have included Microsoft, Kano computing, Primo Toys, ClearlySo, and Firefly Learning. Sophie has spoken for the Department of International Trade, recorded LIVE podcasts, chaired events at Bett and the Nordic Edtech Conference and recently announced an official media partnership with SXSWedu, ASU GSV Summit and is an official co-chair of The London Edtech Week.

In her capacity as a consultant, Sophie has advised startups on product launch strategy and recently curated The Times Educational Supplement (TES) Leaders Summit at Bett 2017 working alongside the Head of Communications at TES Global. She is the organiser for a UK edtech start up meet up group of 1000 education innovators. Sophie was invited to attend a Government meeting at the Department for Education and Department for Business and Industrial Strategy on progressing the Edtech sector. The consensus areas for change form the backbone to her LIVE podcast series for 2017, launching at the London Edtech Week. She lives in London with her toddler, Husband and tandem bicycle.
